Vegan Bacon Ingredients
  • 8 pieces round rice paper
  • Marinade
  • 4 tbsp tamari (or soy sauce if not GF)
  • 1 tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp beet powder (for colour, you can omit if hard to find)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt (optional)
  • 2 tbsp water
Instructions
Prehead oven and line up baking trays
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Line up two baking trays with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare bacon slices
  3. Cut rice paper

Cut the pieces of rice paper in half and set aside.

  4. Prepare marinade

Mix the marinade ingredients in an enclosed plate large enough to fit the pieces of rice paper.

  5. Prepare bacon slices

Dip a rice paper half into a bowl of water until it is soft (but not too soft). Dip both sides of the rice paper into the marinade plate, then fold in the sides in so you get one long piece of vegan bacon. Drain the excess marinade and set the piece on the baking tray, middle side up.

  6. Create ripples

Gently pinch the bacon piece every 1 inches to create ripples. You should be able to fit around 8 pieces on each tray.

  7. Bake bacon slices
  8. Bake and remove from tray

Bake for around 16-18 minutes until crisp. Remove from the baking trays to prevent over-cooking.
